Mexico Trip

Thanksgiving week was a fun one for me no doubt about it.  I was in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with my family and good buddy Glenn
Way too many crazy stories and times happened on this trip that will surely be told time and time again to family and friends.

One of the days we were there we browsed around the marina for awhile as the catches from the day were being brought in. The size of these fish is unreal people where brining in 120-170lb marlins one after the other.  As they got done showing them off and weighing them the would get drug over to the butchers area where they proceded to cut up the fish.

This all happened right in public with no real codes or anything. Here are a few shots from the area used to carve em up.  Also let it be known the guy in the top photo was walking around the whole time barefoot.

So this weekend was our production weekend and naturally I got super bored and went down to Independence point to shoot some photos of my bike and a few of me with the bike as lame as it may be. I think they turned out well but you can be the judge.

Im leaving tomorrow early morning to Mexico and am hoping to get some photos there that will be nice to show everyone. Be on the lookout for the photos. I am hoping to post while I am there also.

Also i was asked to go and shoot another photo of the mill that is getting torn down to build our new educational corridor. I think it turned out well so thought I would show it to everyone and get some opinions.

This is going to be short post due to the fact i have not been shooting too much. This is changing though i have just come across a few new ideas plus i am going to be in mexico for a week so im hoping to get some good stuff from there.

I was in Kansas City awhile ago for a journalism convention which was extremely fun. I was also able to attend a Chiefs game while there so that was a great experience also.

Also on a more local note North Idaho College's girls soccer and volleyball teams both made it to the national tournament this year. We are doing a special feature on them in the paper so we did a mini shoot of the whole team which was pretty fun.

Also here is a shot i took at a small performance of the kids from the daycare which i had to take for a buddy just cause i know its his shot: (here)

Skatebarn

Its been awhile since my last post but from now on I am going to try and stay on at least one post per week. I have some plans in the works for new projects and ideas so i will be working on those and posting as they progress.

As of now i have just been hanging out doing some more local things and have met some good people though it also. I shot at the Skatebarn the other night with Josh and new friend Zack. It was a good time and i am looking forward to doing some more stuff there and with all of these guys once snow starts to fall.

This last week has been beyond busy for me. I have had a hard time to find anytime for family or anything right before halloween, like carving pumpkins or even partaking in the halloween party they just had. Im hoping these missed things will be worth it tomorrow when the paper comes out so I can actually see some of the work in print which means it has paid off. On top of all of this I am having a hard time because i don't really have anyone to fall back on anymore. This is putting a lot more on my plate of things to do and adding some more stress also. On a better note I am really looking forward to Kansas City on wednesday it will be good to see and hangout with some good friends once again.

With some of the many things that have kept me busy photo wise was a feature we did on local RnB artist Jamal Ali. His music is great I suggest everyone goes and takes a listen www.myspace.com/jamalmusic. He had a show friday that I took some photos at and we also went out last night and did some more photos to go with it. Take a look and let me know what you think.

A busy production weekend

This weekend was a pretty good one by most standards but not the best to date. It was busy with production weekend for the college paper which turned out to be just alright but the next issue should be great. As for the entire year there is no real spark of interest yet so I am working hard to try and change that. My main focus right now is my photography. Im hoping to improve my style and abilities throughout the year so i can see where it may take me in the years to come.

This weekend at the college there was some Army team exercise training. It was fairly interesting to shoot just to see the different tasks they were doing on the not so nice of days. Overall the shoot went well and got some interesting shots.

The physical challenges took a toll on some but really seem to make everyone push themselves.

For communication training they were blindfolded and guided by a leader to pick up tennis balls spread across a small field.

For group thinking they had many ropes all tied together which made them capable of lifting objects like balls and coffee cans which they had to maneuver with.  If one team member did not do what needed of them then the can or ball would drop causing them to restart the task at hand.
